Jess has had a passion for selling good horses from a young age.

“When I was a kid growing up, we couldn’t afford to buy good horses so I decided fairly early on that I would just have to figure out a way to make them. We’ve achieved that goal but it’s a bit of a double edged sword. Being that making good horses is a big part of our bread and butter, the good ones always sell so we can’t seem to keep good broke horses on the place. That being said, it really warms my heart to see other folks enjoying those good horses and especially to see kids have that opportunity that I never had when I was a kid.”

At 2J we are continually striving to develop good minded athletes. When you buy a horse from 2J Ranch, you aren’t just buying a horse, you are buying into a program. I have always felt like a big part of what we have to offer in our sale horses is the training, a horse without training is just another horse in the pasture.

Our broke horses are used on the ranch and everything we do from the start is geared toward making them useful horses that can go do a job. We always have a variety of horses at different stages of training, suitable for a wide variety of disciplines. We will be adding more sale horses so if you don’t see what your looking for, feel free to contact us!

TESTIMONIALS

“We have had Bugsy & Lincoln since 2015 & 2016.  The girls have grown up with these 2 horses. Bugsy & Lincoln have taught the kids a lot & have made them become better riders. Both horses are extremely trusting & are always willing to do anything for the girls. Bugsy & Lincoln are very well trained; they are not afraid of anything & they have given the girls added confidence to try new things. These horses easily adapt themselves to the skill level of anyone riding them. Our family; especially the girls can’t thank the Dyck family enough for such great horses.

This past winter Lincoln suffered an eye injury, which resulted in the loss of one eye. Through the entire experience he never lost his trust in us. He is still the same horse he always was & is not afraid of anything on his blind side. I believe this is because of his excellent training from the start by Jess. Lincoln is a true testament to Jess’ training program to produce such well rounded horses for life.”

“My husband is in palliative care ,so am riding again now and then....winter has allowed Lightning to put a few pounds on. After a long winter off, our mare was happy to get out.. took her out for a spin last week, she is the same mare that finished the season last fall, a fun little mare with a big motor, and even bigger ,and tender heart!! Best family horse ever! It was a real blessing to have purchased her from you. I can't think of a more accommodating breeder/trainer, you really went the extra mile to deliver this mare across 3 provinces. Many kind thanks,”

“We always highly recommend Jess and his breeding and training program. His thorough training program covers everything, and now that we have 2 horses from him we know what to expect as they are both so similar in their minds and their training.

I purchased Jacs in the fall of 2017 as a 5 year old. I am an older lady and have ridden all my life but have never ridden a horse that is so athletic, so highly trained and still has an amazing mind. He is so kind and willing to try anything. It took me the first year to catch up to his many talents as he is very well trained by Jess and can do pretty much anything. We’ve met somewhere in the middle I’d say. I’ve stepped up some of my skills and he’s come down to my level. I use him for Cowboy Dressage, various clinics, some cow work, pleasure riding, been to the mountains and now my grandkids are starting to ride him. Absolutely love this horse!

In 2021 I was looking for an all round horse and Jess offered to sell us Clark, Jacs 1/2 brother. So we purchased him in the spring and he is a great horse as well. Very well trained and also a great mind. My husband who doesn’t ride a lot, rides him and Clark looks after him whether it’s chasing cattle or pleasure riding. I have started him in Cowboy Dressage and also done some horsemanship clinics with him.

We can’t say enough good things about these horses and highly recommend anyone who’s looking for quality in blood lines and in training to check out Jess’s horses.”

Our purchase a few years back of a Black Mare named Lynx from 2J Ranch Horses, turned out to exceed our expectations. Not originally intended for our young 8 year old daughter at the time, the connection between horse and child was very evident, and Lynx always remained calm as our daughter learnt and grew along with her. The patience and experience shown by this beautiful black mare has been nothing less than remarkable. It became clear that these horses are not pushed into training and raised in an arena. They have been exposed to many elements, and we are so fortunate to have a highly trained, safe, sound horse from the fine folks at 2J Ranch Horses.

“...I have 2 horses you've trained now, keeper and Arthur I'm team roping on both in the World Series and trc ropings and refuse to part with them but I get asked all the time if I'd sell them. You put a good handle on them thanks for that... I’m still roping off that Keeper horse of yours and I’ve been offered up to 90 grand for him and will never sell and I have that bay horse you trained Arthur going well now to, he’s a looker now everyone’s interested in him all the time too...” Matt Krepps

I bought a gray gelding named "Dewey" sight unseen from Jess in 2010, he was exactly what he said he was, ranch broke, gentle, ride him bareback & bridle-less! Sound & easy keeper with no vices, the kind you can go get a job done on from sorting in the gate to doctoring in the pasture & good around dogs, has had up to a couple years off turned out & still catch him anywhere & ride him back with nothing on, I still own him today at 22 yrs old or so,, still sound & a joy to have around! I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another from these folks, their honest with impeccable integrity! Although I've never met Jess we have remained friends all these years, I highly recommend & trust doing business with this fine family. Red Delaney/ retired working Ranch manager.

Why do broke horses cost so much?
